2025 Taiwan PGA Tour Reaches a Historic High

A Total of 29 Events Throughout the Year, with a Prize Pool Exceeding NT$147 million.

TPGA President Chen Jung-hsin, after being re-elected as the 11th-term president last year, has continued his efforts to promote professional men’s golf in Taiwan. This year, he is once again pushing forward the Taiwan Tour, not only establishing an outstanding foundation in terms of the number of tournaments and total prize money for the first year of the season being included in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) but also breaking new records in the number of annual tournaments and total prize funds. This year, the Taiwan Tour and the ThreeBond Challenge Tour together will hold a total of 29 tournaments, with a total prize pool of NT$147 million, setting a new historic high for the Taiwan Tour’s annual prize money (exchange rate: USD 1 = NT$31).

This year, the Taiwan Tour has 20 tournaments, four more than last year, while the ThreeBond Challenge Tour maintains its scale of nine events.

In 2024, the Taiwan Tour had 16 tournaments, plus 9 ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour events, making a total of 25 events, with a total prize pool of NT$131.85 million.

In 2022, the Taiwan PGA Tour hosted a total of 23 tournaments (14 Taiwan Tour events and 9 Challenge Tour events), with a total prize money of NT$109.75 million. In 2023, the number increased to 24 tournaments (15 Taiwan Tour events and 9 Challenge Tour events), with a total prize pool of NT$120 million.

This year’s total of 29 tournaments is also the highest number of events for TPGA since 2000, setting a new peak for Taiwan’s professional men’s golf tour.

A notable addition this year is the three overseas events, which are co-sanctioned with TPGA and the Trust Golf Asian Mixed, part of the Thailand Tour. Each event has a total prize purse of THB 5 million (approximately NT$5 million), contributing an additional NT$15 million to the total prize money.

Trust Golf is a Thai golf company and a major sponsor of both professional and amateur men’s and women’s golf tournaments in Thailand. In 2021, they established the Trust Golf Mixed Series and have continuously sponsored five professional men’s tournaments in Thailand annually for the past three years. This year, with TPGA obtaining OWGR certification, Trust Golf has partnered with TPGA to allow players from Thailand and other Asian countries to gain more world ranking points through additional tournaments. For the first time, they have reached a cooperation agreement with TPGA to co-sanction three events—Trust Golf Asian Mixed—which will be held at two different golf courses in Thailand.

Additionally, this year’s CHAU-SHI Series has expanded from last year’s eight events to ten. Among them, the final event, the Peng Yi Open, has increased its prize pool from NT$3 million last year to NT$5 million, while the Qing Lian HDF Open has also raised its prize pool to NT$3.5 million.

The Yeangder TPC Championship, which has been held for 15 editions, is organized by the Yeangder Group. Its total prize pool remains at USD 1 million (approximately NT$31 million) for the second consecutive year, matching the prize money of the Mercuries Taiwan Masters. Additionally, the Yeangder Group will continue hosting the Ambassador ADT Open with a prize pool of USD 100,000 and will also title-sponsor two Challenge Tour events under ThreeBond, making it the largest title sponsor of the tournaments this year.

The Taiwan Glass Taifong Open will be an Asian Tour event for the third consecutive year, ensuring Taiwan continues to host three Asian Tour tournaments, with a total prize pool of USD 400,000. Taiwan Glass Group President Lin Po-shi (Chairman of Taifong Golf Club) also announced that the event will continue as one of Taiwan’s Asian Tour events in 2026, with an increased prize pool of USD 500,000.

Additionally, to meet the requirements for joining the OWGR, TPGA has opened Q-School registration to foreign and amateur players for the first time this year. The Q-School was held at the end of January, with the top 40 players earning full playing status for this year’s Taiwan Tour season (excluding Asian Tour and ADT co-sanctioned events), while players ranked 41st and beyond will be considered for alternate positions based on their performance.

President Chen Jung-hsin took office in 2021, completed his first term in 2023, and began his re-elected term last year. This year marks his fifth year as president, during which he continues striving to provide young Taiwanese players with competitive experience and preserve the legacy of golf. He also works to attract more corporations to support and organize Taiwan Tour events.

Today, at the Hsinfeng Golf and Country Club, the 2025 Taiwan PGA Tour press conference was held. Prior to the event, Taiwan’s annual sponsors, host golf courses, and professional players participated in a Pro-Am round. Over 100 professional and amateur players gathered for the pairing tournament and press conference.

TPGA President Chen Jung-hsin emphasized that the increasing number of tournaments is not his personal achievement but rather the result of strong support and assistance from all sponsors. In recent years, many corporations have joined the Taiwan Tour as hosts for the first time, including Wealthy Family Golf Team, Peng Yi Golf, Qing Lian HDF, Din Yue Restaurant, GIANT Heavy Machinery, Chang Wah Group, Da Jia Charity, and many others. Additionally, several long-time sponsors have played a key role in the Taiwan Tour’s growth. Chen stated that only by helping players reach new heights and integrating the tournaments into the international stage can they repay the dedication of these corporate supporters.

Many young players have also shown progress after years of competition. The most inspiring achievement came from Lee Chieh-po, a Taiwan Tour graduate, who secured the only available Q-School spot among nearly 100 international competitors, becoming the first Taiwanese player to join the LIV Golf Tour. Additionally, apart from Asian Tour seed players Chang Wei-lun and Hung Chien-yao, Liu Yung-hua secured his first Asian Tour spot this year after finishing fifth in the ADT rankings last season.

Yu Sung-po, after gaining experience in the Japan Challenge Tour last year, is now officially competing in the Japan Golf Tour. Wang Wei-hsuan and Tsai Kai-jen continue their pursuit of PGA Tour qualification. The achievements of these young players highlight the long-standing corporate support for Taiwan’s professional golfers, which has finally yielded visible results.

Yu Chun-An (Kevin Yu) claimed his first Korn Ferry Tour victory at the TPC Colorado Championship in 2021 and won his first PGA Tour title at the Sanderson Farms Championship last year, becoming the first Taiwanese player since 2019 to win a PGA Tour event. Additionally, Pan Cheng-tsung, a longtime competitor on the PGA Tour with one career victory, serves as another role model for Taiwanese golfers pursuing their professional dreams.

For special awards this year, Taiwan Fu Hsing Co. Chairman Lin Rui-chang has continued his sponsorship for the seventh consecutive year, awarding the Winner of OOM and the top three finishers in both the Taiwan Tour and Challenge Tour. The prize money has been set at NT$500,000, NT$300,000, and NT$200,000, respectively, for the fourth consecutive year, totaling NT$2 million.

Chairman Lin Rui-chang originally provided NT$300,000 for the Taiwan Tour and ThreeBond TPGA Challenge Tour Winners of OOM from 2019 to 2021. In 2022, he increased the prize pool, extending awards to second and third place finishers. Since 2023, the awards have been raised to NT$500,000, NT$300,000, and NT$200,000. This year, the sponsorship continues, intensifying competition among the top-ranked players.

The CHAU-SHI Series also features its own annual prize money ranking. The Winner of OOM not only secures a spot in the following year’s Mercuries Taiwan Masters but also receives a NT$200,000 prize sponsored by Honlin Construction Co. Chairman Lin Guo-er. Chairman Lin has pledged to increase the OOM winner’s prize in the future to further encourage players to compete for the title.

These corporate leaders have consistently increased additional prize money over the years to support the development of Taiwan’s professional golf industry. Their goal is to inspire young players, enhance competition, and encourage them to pursue tournament victories and OOM rankings.
